What are social networks/social networking?
Social networks are groups of people that collaborate together to make connections. Most of these networks are virtual and are often used for business, educational, or recreational purposes. However, it is becoming more and more common for these networks to be used for social purposes, such as instant messaging or interest-sharing. Some of the more popular social networks nowadays include Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Safety and Legal Issues of Social Networking
Although most social networking is relatively safe, it does come with its share of dangers. If you're not careful, social networking sites can be prime locations for data theft and piracy. They can also house computer viruses, which are most often hidden in ads and links.
Another danger about social networks is the prevalence of cyber predators. Most of the time, these are not of concern if your privacy settings are set correctly. However, when people give out too much information about themselves or interact to people they do not know, they can fall prey to the dangers of cyber predators. Social Networking Tips For Students
